Ceramic Filters
Ceramic Filters are one of Sydney Heath & Son's specialist areas, which they have been involved in since the early 1990's.
Our introduction to this was due to our extensive knowledge of the reticulated foams technical characteristics and structure, most of which are not measured by the foam manufacturers. As independant converters we are in a unique position of dealing with all of the foam manufacturers worldwide and more importantly their technical managers.
Complementing this knowledge of the foams is our expertise in converting them, giving the customer the optimum combination of the foam and the best way of converting it to optimise its filtering charcteristics.
E.g. horizontal or vertical cutting.
Used in the metal casting and foundry industries to filter out impurities in molten metal to improve the quality and performance of the end product.
Due to the extreme heat and harsh conditions of production, ceramic filters have to meet the highest standards in terms of performance, durability and heat resistance. Even the slightest impurities can have a massive effect on the performance and strength of the finished product.
With the use of a ceramic filter to extract all impurities in the molten metal it means the end product will:
- Increase in strength and resistance to fatigue and wear.
- Improve appearance as the purer the molten metal the smoother the finished product will be.
The finished products are normally used in the automotive and aerospace industry.
Reticulated polyurethane foam is the material used to produce ceramic filters.
This material is completely open celled which lends itself ideally for filtration. This is achieved by the thermal reticulation process where all membranes are melted into the cell rib.
Reticulated Polyurethane can also be produced to a very specific specialised range enabling ceramic filters to be produced in a wide range of thicknesses, pore sizes and composites to meet the needs of all metal casting processes.
If you use ceramic filters or are interested in finding out more information about how our filters may be able to benefit you, Sydney Heath & Son do have a very high reputation of producing the best quality filters to all different types of specifications so please do not hesitate to contact us on to go through your requirements with our expert team. At Sydney Heath & Son we will make sure we use the best material to meet your specification so that the end product is of the highest standard.
