Flame Retardant Polyurethane Foam
These foams have additives to reduce the foams ignition from small sources, also known as self extinguishing foams. However, it does not mean that they are non flammable as all polyurethane foams will combust above 250°C or in the presence of other sources of combustion.

Flame retardant foams meet the standards for industrial, acoustical and automotive applications and are not to be confused with Combustition Modified Foams that meet the furniture and furnishings regulations.
There are various standards and testing methods used within different industries:
- FMVSS 302 (standard automotive fire retardent specification)
- UL 94
Careful attention needs to be taken when selecting the standards required so let our expertise at Sydney Heath & Son guide you through the selection.
