Visco Elastic / Memory Polyurethane Foams
Known mainly for their unique slow recovery and impact absorbing characteristics through their use within mattresses.
Visco Ealstic Foam also has many other charcteristics that are less commonly recognised that make it extremley versatile for a wide range of applications.

Today visco elastic foams are mainly known for their use in mattresses, where their unique properties offer superior comfort and support by moulding to each indivduals body shape.
Visco Elastic Foam also has natural vibration and shock absorbtion properties which offer key benefits in a large range of applications that require cushioning properties. These include:
- Protective equipment used in both sport and industry e.g. ski goggles, ear plugs, helmet lining etc.
- Therapeutic pillows
- Stress relief toys
- Seating applications.
At Sydney Heath & Son we are not into the mass production of matresses but like to concentrate on using our expertise in the bespoke market. The visco elastic behaviour is strongly dependant on the
temperature and humidity. Measurements of compression load
deflection must therefore always be carried out under the same
conditions. Our values are measured at normal climate 23°C,
50% relative humidity (DIN50014) and after storing for 24 hours at
a constant temperature.
Physical measurement data compared to other foams are applicable
to visco-elastic materials with reservations only and should
be used with caution.
